cant you just leave us one angel...

they say the good die young,
but do you have to prove us that again,
im asking just this once,
can you just bless us with more time with our friend,

he's always been the sunshine,
even through the pouring rain,
could laugh his way through anything,
never showed a sign of pain,

i know you need your angles,
to help you with the fight,
i know those damn demons,
i wrestle with them every night,

he's always been a good soldier,
with everything he'd ever do,
from standing tall for us in the desert,
to teaching a kid to tie his shoe,

he never let the darkness or fear drag him down
through the worst of anything he still played the clown,

always had us laughing always raising hell,
that ornry little smile we all go to know so well,

he's got a wife and family,
and a future going strong,
you can put me in his place if you need to,
for all that ive done wrong,

i know you need your angles,
to help you with the fight,
against those damn demons,
i wrestle with them every night,

he's always been a good soldier,
with everything he'd ever do,
from standing tall for us in the desert,
to teaching a kid to tie his shoes,

he never let the darkness or fear drag him down
through the worst of anything he still played the clown,

always had us laughing, always raising hell,
that ornry little smile, we all go to know so well,

good god we need our angels, down here just the same,
if you havent noticed, this worlds going up in flames,

with all thats caving in around us,
do you really need to call home,
one of the few angels among us,
not afraid to bare the load,

do you think just maybe, this time you could spare,
not for his sake, but for the same of us down here,
i know this might sound greedy, but i dont wanna let him go,
and im gonna have to understand, if you decide to call him home,

i know you need your angles,
to help you with the fight,
against those damn demons,
i wrestle with them every night,

he's always been a good soldier,
with everything he'd ever do,
from standing tall for us in the desert,
to teaching a kid to tie his shoes,

he never let the darkness or fear drag him down
through the worst of anything he still played the clown,

always had us laughing, always raising hell,
that ornry little smile, we all go to know so well,

if your calling home this angel,
just answer one prayer from me,
teach me to be half the angel,
while im down here that was he,
