the lonely road back home...

mama bear don’t you know that I love you,
I can’t wait to come back home,
I’ve been out here on this damn road,
I’ve been gone for way to long,

I can smell that supper cook-in’,
taste those baked beans on my tongue,
It’s the only thing that’s got me through,
these lonely nights out on the run,

record man took me down to nashville,
said he gonna make me into a star,
I can still hear the words you told me,
son don’t you forget who you are,

Lord I made me a lot of money,
and I done pissed it all away,
as if the whiskey wasn’t bad enough,
they introduced me to co’-caine,

Lord all the women and the wild nights,
we sure had us quite a time,
but it seemed that the wilder that it got,
the more i seemed to die inside,

mama bear don’t you know that I love you,
and I can’t wait to come back home,
I’ve been out here on this damn road,
I’ve been gone for way to long,

I can see daddy sitting on that porch swing,
counting every drop of rain,
he was never much for talking,
what he didn’t say said everything,

oh i never forgot where it was i came from,
i just got caught up in the ride,
seems the more that I got,
the harder it was that i'd cry,

i was headed for disaster,
when I fell down on my knees,
and i’m not saying i got any better,
just that it gave me some relief,

mama bear don’t you know that I love you,
I can’t wait to come back home,
I’ve been out here on this damn road,
I’ve been gone for way to long,

i can smell that supper cookin',
taste them baked beans on my toungue,
it's the only thing that gets me through,
these lonely nights out on the run,

yeah the farther away that I went,
the less I felt the need to roam,
yeah I guess you have to go away,
before you can ever come back home,

mama bear don’t you know that I love you,
and I can’t wait to come back home,
oh sweet lord I’m coming home,
ohhhh-ohhhh dear mama I’m coming home,

I’ve been in the prison way to long,
yes please country roads wont you lead me home,
get supper cooking I’m coming home,
ohhhh-ooohhhhh-ohhhh, your baby boys a coming home,
oh mountain mama I’m coming hoooooo’’’ooo’’’aaaaaoooo’mmmmmme,
